Fashion Disasters and How to Fix Them

Fashion Disasters and How to Fix Them - Alyce Paris

We've all had clothing disasters, stains here, snags there, so we have put together some of our all time need to know tips and hacks.

Use white wine to remove red wine stains

If your collar is crinkled and you don't have time to pull out the ironing board, just heat up your flat iron and press it around your collar.

Dab a bit of white glue on the threads of the buttons on your dress shirts. This will help prevent the threads from fraying, and will keep your buttons on longer. If you don’t have any white glue, clear nail polish works just as well!

Window cleaner will also clean patent leather

Remove snags for fabric that stretches by pulling on the fabric around a thread to pull it back into place. Move between tugging on the sides and top and bottom of the loose thread

Fill a sock with baking soda and put inside sneakers to remove odors, the baking soda will soak up any sweat that’s in your shoes

Apply shaving foam onto the makeup stain, leave to work its magic for 10 minutes, wipe with a clean cloth, rinse with cold water then wash as normal

When you buy a new pair of tights, run them under cold water, then pop them into the freezer. Defrost and dry them out, and the individual fibers will be much stronger

Always let freshly ironed clothes cool before you wear them. This will prevent new creases from forming

Shrunken sweater? It’s worth a try to attempt to reshape a wet sweater to its original size. Add 2-3 tablespoonfuls of hair conditioner to a bucket of room temperature water. Put the sweater in the bucket to soak for about 5 minutes. Lay the sweater on a clean dry towel and slowly and gently try to stretch the fibers and reshape the garment before allowing it to dry on the towel
