When you think of summer makeup it usually consists of a natural looking dewy sun-kissed face that’s a bit flushed. Many people desire to have that sun-kissed, summer glow. The key to achieving this look is to keep your skin hydrated. Start with a moisturizing lotion that won’t leave you greasy looking but will give your skin a nice plump look to it.
Next, apply a light coverage foundation preferably with SPF. Avoid anything that is full coverage, because not only will it make you look ‘cakey’ and dry but you will most likely sweat a lot during the hot summer months. If the foundation you have doesn’t include sunscreen in it make sure to apply one to the face that is at least SPF15. You want to protect your skin against the sun’s harmful damaging rays.
BB creams do an amazing job at blending the foundation formula with SPF as well as other amazing benefits to your face. Pro tip: just make sure you don’t wear anything with SPF when you plan on taking flash photography at night to avoid looking like a ghost with the flashback.
Bronze the perimeter of the face lightly focusing on the hollows of the cheeks to give you a beautiful sun-kissed look. Follow this up by highlighting the high points of the cheeks, cupid’s bow and inner corner of the eyes.
Finally, brush a peachy blush over the apples of your cheeks and lightly over the bridge of your nose. This will give you that ‘I have been in the sun all day’ rosy look.
Keep the makeup on your eyes light and fresh. Use light mascara, eyeliner, eyebrows, or shadows. Remember: less is more! To achieve this summer makeup look, we want to keep the look as natural as possible. Remember to avoid any bold harsh colors, and stick to neutral warm colors.
